Whitewash Project Update

Phase one: complete! Paint and finish on two pieces. Check 'em out.

We think that display case with glass doors is pretty fab. Leaving the legs in its natural wood gives it the feeling it's floating.

What We're Loving: Whitewashed Midcentury Furniture

We've been seeing a lot of whitewashed midcentury pieces popping up again lately and we've got to say - it's awesome. The clean, linear look is a great backdrop (or focal point) to add to a minimalist or vintage-inspired room. It carries dual use: a blank canvas and a fabulous piece of design which draws attention.

Here at Found we have done this so many times in different capacities (see chairs) but what we're doing this month is bringing it to some very particularly midcentury dressers and bureaus. We are in phase one of the project and cannot wait until it's finished! We'll have "after" pics up this week.

What you really, really want...

A big part of what we do here at FOUND is scout out new and inspiring inventory to bring back, polish up, (including reupholster, paint) and offer to you, our wonderful customers.

This is easier when I am buying for a client and know exactly what I'm looking for, but not so easy when I am traveling around confronted with so much vintage goodness and trying to pick and choose what I think the next person will appreciate as much as me.

For example, I think this 3 legged goat lamp is freaking awesome but I also get that a lot of people don't necessarily want to sit next to some hairy animal legs while reading a book. Or clipping your toenails. Or whatever you need to shed light on. And while we try to maintain a certain style here at FOUND (think boho / midcentury / woodsy / vintage) we are always looking to keep you happy and inspired.

So please leave us any requests, comments, wish lists, limericks, etc., which would help us scout out the perfect piece for you!

Fall Style Inspiration: Audrey Horne

When I think of classic fall fashion the first things to come to mind are plaid and a good sweater. Audrey Horne, the bodacious and savvy teenage businesswoman, daughter of tycoon Benjamin Horne, sometimes-love interest of Agent Dale Cooper, and all-around awesome character from the cult TV classic, Twin Peaks, is our style hero this month. Portrayed by Sherilyn Fenn, Audrey had a good girl/bad girl throwback look in plaid, wool skirts, tight sweaters and retro beauty which was and is irresistible.

Around here lately.

Whoa. The last few weeks at Found have been so busy with preparation for the reopening, reconfiguration of the store, hunting down and/or building treasures (as always), final details and all the bits in between.

Our open house last Thursday was a ball. It was exciting and rewarding to show off the new look inside the shop (lots of help there) with new design pieces, new stock of vintage and new clothing, vintage home goods, etc. It's nice to step back and get a good look at all that's been accomplished.

A couple of new things to know about our store:

1. We will now be open until 7:00 PM on Thursdays! (All hours here)
2. Each Tuesday we will announce via Facebook and Instagram a "Dress of the Week" which will be 20% off through the following Saturday. (See: #dressoftheweek) This week's dress is a new piece - a southwestern print shift dress. Very cute. Look for yourself.

So after all these busy days and often seemingly endless tasks remembered last minute (or post-last minute) the weekend was used to decompress and regroup. We selected some seriously choice new pieces for the store (coming soon), pulled some fab design inspiration and took a few deep breaths. Ready to get back to business.

Thanks again to everyone who came out to visit the store and to those who helped make the open house a success (Lemonjello's and The Full Circle, in particular). We had a marvelous time.

Hello, friends! Welcome to our all new blog.

First let us say that we appreciate your patience and support and we'd like to answer the questions we've received over the last few months:
